Hosting glossary
TTFB (time to first byte)
In short: How long a browser waits before the server starts sending a page.
TTFB covers the connection to the server and the time the server takes to build the page. Google's web.dev guidance treats 0.8 seconds or less as good.
A server near your visitors, good caching and enough resources all help.
