Frequently asked questions

How do I check when a domain expires?

Enter it above. We ask the registry that runs the extension (for example Nominet for .uk, or Verisign for .com) through RDAP, the modern replacement for WHOIS [1][4], and show the expiry date it publishes.

What happens if my domain expires?

Your website and email stop working. For generic domains like .com, ICANN's rules make registrars remind you before it expires and leave a short window afterwards when you can still renew [3]. Don't rely on it: set a reminder with Renewal Radar.

Why couldn't you find the expiry date?

Some registries don't publish it through RDAP, or answer slowly. Your registrar's control panel always shows it.

Why does my renewal cost more than I paid?

Many registrars charge less for the first year than for renewals. Compare the renewal price, not just the first-year price. See domain renewal prices explained.
